EDI membrane stack structure

The EDI membrane stack is a plate-and-frame type, consisting of several concentrated water chambers and fresh water chambers, and is fastened by bolts. Through an external junction box, the DC power supply is connected to the anode and cathode to form a DC electric field inside the membrane stack. When the incoming water flows through the fresh water chamber, the ions in the water are adsorbed by the resin and migrate to the concentrated water chamber under the action of the electric field force, and then discharged from the membrane stack, so that the water is purified

  1. Electrode
    The electric field is formed by connecting the wire with the external DC power supply. Two metal plates act as anode and cathode respectively. Under the action of the electric field, electrochemical reactions occur and ion migration and removal can proceed smoothly
  2. Ion exchange membrane
    It is divided into anion membrane and cation membrane, which contain anion and cation exchange groups respectively. It is a membrane that has a selective permeability to anions or cations and does not allow water to pass through
  3. Ion exchange Resin
    Resin particles containing ion exchange groups that have an adsorption effect on anions or cations
  4. Filling method of ion exchange resin
    Anion and cation exchange resins are filled in the fresh water chamber and the concentrated water chamber in a certain proportion
  5. Fresh water chamber
    Mixed resin is filled between the anion and cation exchange membranes to make a thick partition layer of pure water
  6. Concentrated water chamber
    The thin film plate layer between the two fresh water chambers used to collect and guide concentrated water
  7. Raw water
    Supply to the fresh water chamber, a thin partition layer used to collect and guide concentrated water
  8. Produced (fresh) water
    The water flow flowing through the fresh water chamber is the high-purity water after deionization
  9. Concentrated water flow
    The water flow flowing through the concentrated chamber contains ions migrated from the fresh water chamber
